Enter Alter Bridge.
Formed from the ashes of Creed, Alter Bridge released their first album, “One Day Remains”, which contained, Metalingus, a song that like its name suggests had a much harder vibe than Creed fans were used to. Dare we say it had a harder “edge” to it?
The opening lyrics fit Adam Copeland’s new direction perfectly (or rather where the WWE placed the opening lyrics), as it depicted a new start for what would be a multi time World Champion.
The Rated R Superstar now had a hard rock song that felt (it wasn’t however) written for him. Edge felt more like a main event player. His signature “You Think You Know Me” was edited in to his entrance to begin the theme, but with the character change, those words had new meaning.
As it would turn out, “Metalingus” would become a favorite of Alter Bridge concert goers, this despite having never been released as a single.
Lyrics:
I've been defeated and brought down
Dropped to my knees when hope ran out
The time has come to change my ways
On this day I see clearly everything has come to life
A bitter place and a broken dream
And we'll leave it all, leave it all behind
I'll never long for what might have been
Regret won't waste my life again
I won't look back
I'll fight to remain:
On this day I see clearly everything has come to life
A bitter place and a broken dream
And we'll leave it all behind
On this day its so real to me
Everything has come to life
Another chance to chase a dream
Another chance to feel
Chance to feel alive
Fear will kill me, all I could be
Lift these sorrows
Let me breathe, could you set me free
Could you set me free
On this day I see clearly everything has come to life
A bitter place and a broken dream
And we'll leave it all behind
On this day its so real to me
Everything has come to life
Another chance to chase a dream
Another chance to feel
Chance to feel alive
