Considering the vast amount of artists discussed here, only a small handful of them have achieved success through out their twenty five years awaiting eligibility. Even less on this list could sell out an arena internationally. Not only has Bon Jovi accomplished both feats; they could very well be the only group on this list with the best shot of maintaining that status over the next twenty five years.
Bon Jovi has always been stuck with labels that never seemed to really fit. Their music was too light to fit in with the Heavy Metal acts of their day and despite their good looks they weren’t trying to emulate the over the top gimmickry of Hair Metal. Frankly, when the meteor of Grunge hit the music world in the early 90’s it wouldn’t have shocked many to see Bon Jovi as one of its casualties. Yet, that didn’t happen. In fact, not only did they survive, but they continued to thrive. Regardless of where the musical pendulum sways Bon Jovi remains a constant as a hard working traditional Rock band. If any label should stick, it should be “survivors”. Considering their high profile it would not surprise us to see them gain entry into the Hall sooner as opposed to later.
