The Defenseman would play for the Buffalo Sabres for five seasons before Edmonton claimed him in the 1979 Expansion Draft. Fogolin was a traditional stay-at-home Defenseman, which Edmonton would come to covet as their team was loaded with offensive firepower. Fogolin was a captain for two seasons, and he would help Edmonton win their first two Stanley Cups in 1984 and 1985. He would make the All-Star Team in 1986.
Fogolin was traded back to the Buffalo Sabres late in the 1986-87 season, and he would retire shortly after. As an Oiler, Fogolin scored 160 Points with a Plus/Minus of +153. Fogolin would be included in the Oilers inaugural Hall of Fame Class in 2022.
