Arriving as the fourth overall pick in 2017 with runaway-freight-train credentials out of LSU, Leonard Fournette brought immediate, punishing physicality to Jacksonville's backfield. Weighing 230 pounds and bringing track-star top-end acceleration, he served as the battering ram that powered the team's run-first identity during an unforgettable rookie campaign, crossing the goal line nine times on the ground and racking up 1,040 rushing yards to earn All-Rookie honors.

Fournette's value peaked during Jacksonville's 2017 playoff run, where his violent running style proved tailor-made for January football. He ground out four postseason touchdowns across three games, including a three-touchdown performance in Pittsburgh during the Divisional Round that propelled the organization to the AFC Championship Game.

While injuries disrupted his 2018 campaign, Fournette rebounded in 2019 to showcase a far more versatile repertoire. He carried the offensive load with a career-high 1,152 rushing yards and evolved into a genuine receiving outlet, snatching 76 passes out of the backfield to tally 1,674 yards from scrimmage—the fifth-highest single-season total in team history.

Organizational shifts led to his surprise waiver release just before the 2020 kickoff. He landed in Tampa Bay, where his bruising postseason surges earned him the "Playoff Lenny" moniker and a Super Bowl LV ring alongside Tom Brady.  In Duval, Fournette had 666 carries for 2,631 rushing yards, 17 rushing touchdowns, 134 receptions for 1,009 receiving yards, two receiving touchdowns, and 3,640 total scrimmage yards.
