Wilson was not just popular as he was also a very good player. Wilson was a good hitter who accumulated 1,112 Hits in a Mets uniform. His true gift was his speed as Wilson had 7 consecutive seasons with 20 Stolen Bases, three of which saw him swipe over 45 bases.
Perhaps what Mookie Wilson will be most known for was hitting the ground ball that went through the legs of Bill Buckner in the 1986 World Series. We don’t think we have to tell you what happened after.
The Mets Hall of Fame added Wilson in 1996.
