George Harrison

He may have been dubbed as the “Quiet Beatle” but it was George Harrison who first broke out as a solo star and left behind a legacy of hits and brilliant music.  Though Harrison may not have been the “favorite” Beatle when he was with the Fab Four, he may have become that of many after the success of his individual efforts.

Harrison's first album, All Things Must Pass, unfurled all that pent-up songwriting held in check by Lennon and McCartney, but that was it creatively because the rest of his solo catalog is mediocre. He was among the first do-gooders with his Bangladesh relief efforts, even if it's not clear that any of the proceeds actually got to the victims. And, sadly, he died young.

None of which, nor anything else in Harrison's post-Beatles career, qualifies him for a solo entry into the Hall.
