Ozzy Osbourne

In the first decade of the new millennium, the medium of television became overrun with reality television. Other portions of this website may discuss the merits of reality T.V., but never have we had felt the need to incorporate that discussion in terms of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. With Ozzy Osbourne, we may have to reevaluate that position.

Already a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his work fronting the groundbreaking metal band, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne went on to have a very successful solo career and remains as one of the top concert draws today. Although his solo work did not eclipse the work he did with Sabbath critically, it did very well commercially and he actually expanded his fan base. As one of the reality show pioneers, his new public image as a cartoonish, incoherent bungler may not exactly be helping him achieve the second induction that some may feel he deserves. Having said that, considering how long Black Sabbath had to wait for their induction, it stands to reason that should Ozzy get in it will be long after he made his last television appearance.
