This one should be interesting.

There are a lot of people who would scoff at the idea of Avril Lavigne ever making the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That criticism stems from her singing perceived lightweight material and as a pop singer (which is what she is despite attempts to categorize her as anything else) there is a desire to automatically label her as unworthy.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame worthy or not, Lavigne did pen all of her own material and for a few years could make a claim as one of the biggest female musicians in the world and did so without resorting with overt sexuality. She will be worth a look, but more critically acclaimed material regardless of sales will help her cause.
