I knew Green Day would get in. It makes me feel old but they needed a headliner and they very much deserving.

Glad to see Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Bill Withers, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, and Lou Reed made it. It's a solid undercard.

The Paul Butterfield Blues Band though.... was Nine Inch Nails just not ready? Granted I think NIN could headline another class but this just feels off.

Figures Ringo Starr would get in as a singles artist. I'm guessing peoples OCD kicked in and felt like they had to complete the set.

oe cocker should have been in the rrhof a long time ago.i can't believe some of the groups that were put in like the band yes, one of the most annoying sounding bands ever, however joe cocker is probably too much of an icon to be on any type of mere list. he did a live concert in 2013 at the age of 70 yrs old and he and his band members were amazing.link to this concert is below.its on you tube Joe Cocker fire it up live

ocker is one of mine. the simple fact that he did this excellent concert at the age of 70 yrs old is amazing to me. he always seems to do other bands songs with more power and better than the original version imo

The only performer I can support is Green Day. In my ballot-assessment article (www.notinhalloffame.com/blogs/ddt-s-pop-...-of-fame-nominations), I said no to all the others although I stated that I thought the voters would elect Joan Jett and Stevie Ray Vaughan. They did.

I'm fine with the "5" Royales as an Early Influence, but, really, who is going to care except old fogeys and historians? That is not a slight to this fine pre-Rock and Soul Era band, as they are just as worthy as the Dells, the Moonglows, or Little Anthony and the Imperials, and even more deserving than the Midnighters, who I don't think should be in, but who shared a ribald R&B style and, for a confusing time, a similar "Royals" name that finally prompted both acts to rename themselves.

Ringo Starr's induction is ridiculous, but as (I think) Dr. Clayton Forrester noted, this is a "complete the set" mentality for the Fab Four. George Harrison's induction for his solo career was unwarranted, but seeing as the Mystical One at least had one classic album in him (All Things Must Pass), which Starr cannot claim, they had to sneak Ringo in with the Award for Musical Excellence.

Sorry, Spheniscus: I know you have a lot of Bill Withers love, but in my view his election this year is only a few steps above inducting Percy Sledge. Sledge even had one more Top 40 hit than did Withers, although Withers had three Top 5 singles including the chart-topper "Lean on Me" while Sledge's chart-topper "When a Man Loves a Woman" was his only Top 5 hit; however, I'd take "Lean on Me" any day over "When a Man Loves a Woman." Withers's "Ain't No Sunshine" over Sledge's "Take Time to Know Her," though? Tough choice, and I don't think I can do it.
