231. Nickelback

Oh boy. We talk about a lot of bands being polarizing, but Nickelback just takes it to a very strange level. The people who hate the Canadian band are numerous and they are about as critically despised as it gets. Yet they sell millions of records and fill arenas through a passionate fan base. Somewhere in between is where we could categorize them.

If you hate Nickelback, you are underrating a group that sounds like weaker versions of harder-sounding contemporaries, but they are a talented outfit whose catalogue shows how to bridge pop and rock with a taste of alternative.  If you love Nickelback, you might not see how they stack up against other more critically beloved bands, and why they are maligned.

Regardless of what side of the fence you are on with Nickelback, this is one of the most successful rock bands of all-time, and this could mean something to Hall voters.

Somehow, we expect this page to fill up with some interesting comments.
