Justin Verlander becomes the 10th pitcher to win the Cy Young and MVP in the same season

Does winning the MVP AND the Cy Young Award mean you will get into the Baseball Hall of Fame?   It may surprise you that less than half of those who accomplished that dual threat are in Cooperstown.

Of those the previous nine pitchers who landed both trophies in a season, only four are in.  This would be Sandy Koufax, Dennis Eckersley, Rollie Fingers and Bob Gibson.

A fifth, Roger Clemens, should have had his ticket punched in a few years, but with his adventures with Congress we doubt that will happen.

Three others, Vida Blue, Denny McLain and Don Newcombe had very good careers and are listed on our top one hundred of potential Baseball HOF inductees.

The last is Willie Hernandez who is largely forgotten, even in Detroit where he accomplished this feat.

Which list will Justin Verlander land?
