Bodger was a good player in his own right, and as an 18 year old rookie, he would score 31 Points, which he improved upon as an NHL sophomore with 37. He would begin to see more time on the power play, and he took advantage of it by collecting his first double digit goal season when he lit the lamp 11 times and had a 49 Point season. The solid two-way defenseman would have a personal best of 14 Goals in 1987-88, the season that would be his last full year with the Penguins.
He would be traded early in November of 1989 in a package that brought Goalie, Tom Barrasso, to Pittsburgh. As a Penguin, Bodger had 167 Points.
