47. Rick Tocchet

47. Rick Tocchet

As a player, Rick Tocchet is most closely associated with the other Pennsylvania hockey team, the Philadelphia Flyers, and he should be considering he spent four times longer there than he did with the Penguins.

The difference, though, is that Tocchet won his only Stanley Cup ring as a Penguin.

The Penguins won the 1991 Stanley Cup, and to get there, and their management was not afraid to make bold deals.  This remained this way as the defending champions, giving up Mark Recchi to bring in Tocchet during the 1991-92 season.  He helped the Pens repeat as champions, where he scored 19 Points in the playoffs.

That was his last Cup, but Tocchett would have his best individual year in the NHL where he scored 109 Points, was an All-Star, and had 252 Penalty Minutes.  That sounds like one hell of a hat trick, doesn't it?  He played one more season in Pittsburgh, where he had 40 Points in 51 Games, and he would be traded to the Los Angeles Kings in the offseason.

Tocchet only played 150 Games for the Penguins, but he averaged 1.19 Points per Game, which was much higher than the WIng accrued with any of the other teams he played for.
