39. Olli Maatta

39. Olli Maatta

Considered to be one of the more cerebral Defenseman in the game, Finland’s Olli Maatta, was a First Round Pick (22nd Overall) by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2012.

Maatta debuted the following season, where he finished fifth in Calder voting, with a 29 Point year.  Maatta would be regarded for his shot blocking and role on the power play, and he would be a nice piece in the Pens back-to-back Stanley Cup Championships in 2016 and 2017.  In the first Cup win, the Finnish blueliner had a 19 Point regular season and was sixth in Plus/Minus (+27).  He would repeat his 29 Point output in 2017-18.

His Penguins career came to an end when he was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks after the 2018-19 Season.  He would score 107 Points for the team.
