36. Pierre Larouche

36. Pierre Larouche

In the last half of the 1970s, one of the most exciting young players was Pierre Larouche, who set many records as the youngest to achieve specific benchmarks.  He was the youngest to score 100 Goals, 200 Points, and 300 Points (though Wayne Gretzky would break this), but nevertheless, he still had that record at one time.

Drafted eighth overall in 1974, Larouche scored 68 Points as a rookie and was the runner-up for the Calder Trophy, losing to Eric Vail of the Atlanta Flames.  The Center would join the coveted 50 Goal club, when he lit the lamp 53 times in his sophomore season (1975-76), and had 111 Points.  As it would happen, this would be career highs.  He had 63 Points the year after, and he would be traded to the Montreal Canadiens early in 1977-78, where he would win two Stanley Cups.

With the Penguins, he would accumulate 253 Points with a 1.05 Points Per Game Average.
