An imposing figure on the ice at 6’6”, Kjell Samuelsson was a physical blueliner who had his best seasons in the National Hockey League with the Philadelphia Flyers.
The product of Sweden was not exactly a playmaker, but he did have a 30 Point season with Philadelphia, which was by far his highest mark. Samuelsson was an All-Star in 1988 and was named the Barry Ashbee Trophy winner twice, an award given annually to the best Defenseman on the Flyers.
He would be traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he would help them win the Stanley Cup, and then he would sign back with the Flyers, where he would play three more seasons.Traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins with Rick Tocchet, Ken Wregget and Philadelphia’s 1993 3rd Round Pick (which would be Dave Roche) for Mark Recchi, Brian Benning and the previously acquired 1992 1st Round Pick from Los Angeles (which would be Jason Bowen) 2/19/92.

Departed (2): Signed as a Free Agent by the Tampa Bay Lightning 10/14/98.
