36. Tom Gilbert

36. Tom Gilbert

The Colorado Avalanche drafted Tom Gilbert in 2002, but before he could play for them on the elite level, he was traded to Edmonton for the struggling Goaltender, Tommy Salo.

Gilbert would play 12 Games in 2006-07 and would make the All-Rookie Team the following year.  In addition to his rookie year, he had three straight 30 Point campaigns, peaking with 45 in 2008-09.  While the Oilers were not a good team when he played there, Gilbert did what he could and was one of the few bright spots on the roster.  He would often run the point on the power play, and 51 of his 159 Points with Edmonton occurred in that fashion.

Gilbert’s run with Edmonton ended when he was traded to the Minnesota Wild during the 2011-12 season.
