33. Larry Murphy

In Larry Murphy’s 17th NHL Season, he was traded from the Toronto Maple Leafs to the Detroit Red Wings for its playoff run.  The Defenseman had already been a Second Team All-Star three times, and when he was with Pittsburgh, he aided them in winning their first two Stanley Cups, so the Red Wings knew they had a veteran blueline who knew how to win.

Murphy did precisely what was advertised, as he helped bring the loaded Detroit team to a Stanley Cup win.  Murphy scored 52 Points in both of the next two seasons, with another Stanley Cup ring and an All-Star appearance in tow.  Murphy had another good year before his age caught up with him, and he retired after the 2000-01 Season.

Murphy scored 171 Points for Detroit and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004.
