Housley got off to a great start where he was the runner-up for the Calder, scoring 66 Points. An All-Star the following season, Housley had 77 Points while finishing fifth for the Norris Trophy, and cracked the 60 Point threshold the next four years, reclaiming the 70 Point mark in 1988-89 in what was his second All-Star season.
Following this, Housley had his best year in a Buffalo uniform, scoring 81 Points, while earning a third All-Star Game appearance and his second, fifth place Norris finish. Despite this, it was Housley's last year as a Sabre, as he was part of a transaction that dealt him to Winnipeg for Dale Hawerchuk.
As of this writing, Housley has the most Points by an NHL Defenseman (1,232), 558 of which were with Buffalo. Housley entered the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2017, a decade after he was enshrined in the Sabres Hall of Fame.
