Bobby Bauer’s career only spanned nine seasons (all with Boston), but the Right Wing of the famed “Kraut Line” was a Second Team All Star in four of them. Bauer was a selfless player who knew how to set up his teammates brilliantly, and he was also a player who rarely let aggression get the best of him, as he was a three-time Lady Byng recipient.
Bauer, who won the Stanley Cup twice, would miss a lot of games due to early retirement and World War II, which kept his career numbers low, but anyone who was considered an elite forward, even in a short career like Bauer’s, was good enough to get him into the Hockey Hall of Fame, which happened in 1996.
