Foote was a traditional stay-at-home blueiner and while many hockey players are described as having grit, Foote might have been the literal definition of it. His play balanced powerful offences and he was a vital part of the Colorado Avalanche winning the Stanley Cup in both 1996 and 2001. Foote would five times be asked to represent Canada in major international tournaments; the Olympics three times and the World Cup of Hockey twice. Foote owns a Gold Medal in both the Olympics and the World Cup and that does help elevate a resume that was never considered good enough to be an All Star.
