Hines Ward

Hines Ward became the 8th receiver in NFL history to reach the 1,000 reception milestone, with his last catch of the regular season, on January 1, 2012.Ward was limited to 46 receptions fo the 2011 season.(He's had a career high of about 100 receptions one season and has averaged over 70 catches per year. in his 14 seasons with Pittsburgh.) He turns 36 in early March. My questions are - will that catch number 1,000 be the final reception of his Steelers career and will it be his final reception of his NFL career?.It sure would look strange if he continues playing next season, but not wearing the Steelers black, white, and gold.

Ward feels he can still play. I see some team taking a chance on him, and I don't think Pittsburgh is out of the picture. He really wants to stay there and is willing to work with them.

He retired at second all-time in receptions with 1101 and over 100 of those catches were Touchdown receptions. That's why his election should have been automatic. He turned franchises around, turning chumps into champs. He led four different teams into the playoffs and won two Super Bowls. Much like Carter's case there is a bit of incredulity on my part at Parcells' rejection. There was reportedly some conflict about electing two non-players.
