Mike Wagner was drafted in the 11thRound in 1971 by the Pittsburgh Steelers, where the team looked at him as a potential Wide Receiver.  They moved the product of Western Illinois to Safety, and it seemed to be the correct decision.

Wagner became the starting Strong Safety as a rookie, and in 1973, he was the co-leader in the NFL in Interceptions with eight.  Wagner went to the Pro Bowl in both 1975 and 1976, and he is one of the members of the four Super Bowl wins by the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wagner played with the Steelers until he retired after the 1980 Season, and he accumulated 36 Interceptions.
