28. Steve Nelson

Steve Nelson was one of the players that came from North Dakota State, where the Linebacker played his entire pro career with the Patriots (1974-87).

Nelson started all but three of his 174 Games where he played predominantly in the interior as a tackling factory.  Tackles were not officially kept as stats when Nelson played, but it is believed that he led the team in eight of his 14 seasons in that metric.  Nelson went to three Pro Bowls and was a large part of their AFC Championship in 1985.

He was selected to the Patriots Hall of Fame in 1993.
