Lowe found a job as the starting Halfback for the Los Angeles Chargers, and in his rookie year, he was a First Team All-Pro, and he led the new league in Rushing Yards per Attempt. Over the next few seasons, Lowe was a star rusher for the Chargers, finishing first in Rushing Touchdowns twice (1961 & 1965), and he would win the Rushing Title in 1965. Two years earlier, Lowe helped take (now) San Diego to their only AFL Championship.
He played for the Chargers for another year and change before he was released, but he landed in Kansas City, where he was a member of their Super Bowl IV win. With the Chargers, Lowe had 7,312 All-Purpose Yards and 45 Touchdowns, and he would enter the Chargers Hall of Fame in 1979.
