Drafted seventh overall in 2018 from Wyoming, Josh Allen entered Western New York as a promising prospect with strong arm skills and athletic ability. Since Jim Kelly's retirement in 1996, Buffalo had been seeking a franchise quarterback for more than twenty years. Despite initial doubts about his passing accuracy, Allen soon became one of the most dynamic and exciting dual-threat quarterbacks of his era.

Allen merges the physique of a tight end with a rocket arm that can deliver throws from any angle. With fearless mobility, he becomes a challenging opponent in short-yardage and red-zone scenarios, often finishing runs with hurdle jumps and heavy shoulder contact. As a passer, he has honed elite touch on boundary throws and intermediate seam routes, adjusting his arm angles on the move while keeping velocity for long passes.

Allen gradually rose to prominence during his 2018 rookie season, becoming the starting quarterback early on. In 11 starts, he passed for 2,074 yards and 10 touchdowns, while also showcasing his mobility with 631 rushing yards and eight rushing scores. By 2019, Allen had solidified his role as the team's primary quarterback, throwing for 3,089 yards and 20 touchdowns, plus nine rushing touchdowns, leading Buffalo to a 10-6 record and their first playoff appearance in several years.

Allen reached elite status in 2020 with a standout year. He set franchise records by passing for 4,544 yards and 37 touchdowns, along with rushing for eight touchdowns. Leading the Bills to a 13–3 record and reaching the AFC Championship, Allen was selected to his first Pro Bowl and was the runner-up in AP NFL MVP voting.

Allen maintained a high standard in 2021 and 2022, establishing Buffalo as a regular AFC contender. In 2021, he passed for 4,407 yards and 36 touchdowns, also rushing for a career-best 763 yards. In 2022, he recorded 4,283 passing yards, 35 touchdowns, and 762 rushing yards with seven rushing scores. He led the NFL in Approximate Value (19) and helped Buffalo return to the playoffs.

In 2023, Allen demonstrated his dual-threat ability near the goal line, tying the NFL single-season record with 15 rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. He also threw for 4,306 yards and 29 touchdowns, guiding Buffalo to another AFC East division crown and placing fifth in MVP voting.

His 2024 MVP campaign showcased exceptional efficiency and command. Despite changes in his receiving group, Allen guided the Bills to a 13-4 record, passing for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns, and only six interceptions. He also contributed 531 rushing yards and 12 rushing touchdowns. Leading the NFL with a 77.3 QBR and a 101.4 passer rating, Allen received his first AP NFL MVP award and secured his second Pro Bowl selection.

The 2025 season saw Allen further refine his mastery of Buffalo's offense. Playing all 17 regular-season games, he threw for 3,668 yards and 25 touchdowns while completing a career-high 69.3% of his passes. On the ground, Allen remained an unstoppable goal-line force, rushing for 579 yards and 14 touchdowns, securing his fourth career Pro Bowl selection and guiding the Bills to another AFC East division crown.

Allen is the only player in NFL history to record four consecutive seasons with at least 40 total touchdowns, holding the NFL record for the most total touchdowns through a player's first eight seasons.

Entering the 2026 season—his ninth in Buffalo—Allen holds franchise records with 30,102 passing yards, 220 touchdown passes, and 79 rushing touchdowns across 128 regular-season games.  If Allen can lead Buffalo to their first Super Bowl win, he could become the top man on this list.
