5. Darrelle Revis

Sometimes when a player coins a phrase about their abilities on the field there might be some figment of exaggeration involved.  When Darrell Revis described his spot on the gridiron as “Revis Island”; a place where no Wide Receiver would dare travel to.  This is no hyperbole, Revis was that good!

Drafted 14th overall in 2007 by the New York Jets, Revis had a good rookie season which he followed up with a Pro Bowl appearance in 2008.  2009 however Revis would have one of the best regular seasons that a Cornerback ever had where he had 6 Interceptions and stopped every number one Wide Receiver that he was paired against.  According to Pro Football Reference, Revis would have an Approximate Value of 21, which was NFL leading and naturally he would go to another Pro Bowl and this time would be named a First Team All Pro for the first time in his career.

The Cornerback didn’t get to record a lot of picks over the next two seasons but how could he when Offensive Coordinators knew not to throw the football anywhere near him!  Revis was again named a First Team All Pro in 2010 and 2011 and following an injury plagued 2012 he was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.  It was a weird year in Tampa as while he was a Pro Bowler again he was not a fit for the Bucs system and he would be released and who signed him?  The New England Patriots!

Back in the AFC East, Revis was again a First Team All Pro but more importantly he was with a team that could get to the Super Bowl, which they did and would win.  Revis returned to the Jets afterward for two more years before finishing off his career with one season in Kansas City.
