  • Contest: 2023 Fictitious Rock and Roll Contributors -- Round 1
  • There is a myriad of corrupt or incompetent band managers that we have nominated for the Contributors Section of the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Still, with Ian Faith, we have a well-intending (though sometimes bungling) Manager of Spinal Tap. Many of the mishaps that took place in "This Is Spinal Tap" were not his fault as his band was clearly on the decline and past their musical expiration date. He mastered the art of knowing how to let down his clients easily, like when he told them that there show in Boston canceled and that since it wasn't a college town, there was no reason to worry.
Faith would clash with the girlfriend of Tap’s lead singer, David St. Hubbins, who would suggest that she co-manage the group, which would lead Faith to leave the group. At the end of the documentary, he would return and book them on a successful tour of Japan.
