Every one of the Mattell cartoons needed a capable villain, as long as they weren't too intelligent as they never won at the end. In Jem and the Holograms, the top bad guy was Eric Raymond, who at one point was running Starlight Music and would have half-ownership. He would create bands to help his re-acquire the label even through means that made absolutely no business sense in the non-animated world. Maybe that is why they rarely worked.
In the live-action movie, Eric Raymond was reimagined as Erica Raymond and played by Juliette Lewis, but the film was so bad we won't be nominating her here.
