Mel Hutchins was with the Hawks for only two seasons, but those first two campaigns in the National Basketball Association were incredible.
Hutchins was named to an All-Star Game in 1953. Hutchins was the league-leading rebounder in his rookie season, right after he was selected out of BYU. This was an excellent career for a second overall pick from Tri-Cities. He would average a double-double as a Hawk.
