There were two Pitchers named Roberto Hernandez, who threw for the Rays.  This "Roberto Hernandez" was the first one with that name and by far the best one.

Hernandez was a Puerto Rican reliever who played for ten different teams over his seventeen-year career.  He would join for the 1998 season, and in 1999, he would have a very good year, where he would be named an All-Star, and lead the American League in Games Finished (66), and had a career-high 43 Saves, which was good enough for second in the League.

After the 2001 season, he was traded to the Kansas City Royals.  With the Rays, Hernandez had 101 Saves with 182 Games Finished.
