After twelve seasons and a World Series ring with the Houston Astros, Morton signed with Tampa as a Free Agent, and he would proceed to have the best season of his career. Morton went to his second All-Star Game, finished third in ERA (3.05), and Cy Young Voting and won 16 Games with a career-high 240 Strikeouts. Arguably, the Rays would not have made the playoffs in 2019 without him, and he won two Games for the Rays that post-season. Morton was not as strong in 2020, but in that COVID-shortened year, he helped the Rays win the American League Pennant, winning two games in the ALCS.
Morton signed with the Atlanta Braves after the season ended. Morton's stint in Tampa was brief but was impactful.
