Dave Foutz would help the then named St. Louis Browns win three straight American Association Pennants (1885-87) and was integral in their World Series win over Chicago in 1886. Foutz would win 33 Games in 1885 but had a career year in 1886 where he led the National League in Wins (41) and Earned Run Average (2.11). His overall Winning Percentage was St. Louis was .704 with an excellent record of 129 and 55.
It also needs to be mentioned that Foutz was a good hitter and often played First Base or in the Outfield when he wasn’t pitching. He had 353 Hits with a .296 Batting Average for the Browns. After he was sold to the Brooklyn Grays he wouldn’t pitch nearly as much due to arm issues.
