Carlos Guillen's career took off with the Detroit Tigers, but his Major League career began in Seattle.

Actually, his journey to American Baseball began in the Houston Astros, where he was chosen as an Amateur Free Agent.  As a minor leaguer, he was traded to the Mariners organization in 1998 and debuted for the Mariners that year.  He would be a full-time member of Seattle's roster in 2001 and would be their regular Shortstop for the Mariners that year until 2003.  He would bat at least .250 each season and provided sound defense at that time.

The Venezuelan was traded to the Detroit Tigers before the 2004 Season, and with Seattle, he would accrue 439 Hits.
