Putz would secure 36 Saves in 2006 while posting a 2.30 ERA and 0.919 WHIP. Those were good numbers, but his 2007 could very well be the best relief year by a Mariner of all-time. As good as '06 was, his 2007 saw him secure 40 Saves, with a league leading 65 Games Finished. His ERA shrunk to a paltry 1.38 with an even more impressive WHIP of 0.698. Putz was robbed in that as the player with the highest Win Probability Added, and he was denied receiving even a single Cy Young vote. He would not be denied the Rolaids Relief Award as the best closer of the American League.
Putz game fell off in 2008 as he threw for only 15 Saves, and his ERA ballooned to 3.88. He was traded to the Mets after that.
With Seattle, he would earn 101 Saves and finished 207 Games.
