While Elmer Flick would enter the Baseball Hall of Fame as a Veteran’s Committee inductee mostly for what he did for Cleveland, the first four seasons of his career with Philadelphia cannot be discounted.

Obviously, we are not as Flick is firmly on our Top 50 all-time list of Philadelphia Phillies.

With the Phils, Flick would lead the National League in RBIs in 1900 and over his four years in Philly he would have a sweet Slash Line of .338/.419/.487 with 683 Hits.  He had easily established himself as one of the top players in Baseball and his star was still rising.

However…

Like so many others in the National League, Flick would jump to the American League at the turn of the century, in his case the Philadelphia Athletics.  A court injunction by the Phillies prevented him from playing more than 11 Games with their crosstown rival and he jumped to Cleveland where he finished out what was to be a Hall of Fame career.

Flick may not have left the Philadelphia Phillies on the best of terms, but his accomplishments there can not be ignored.
