It was a great trade for Kansas City as they got 304 Saves for a player who would only have one Home Run in the Majors. Montgomery would become the closer for the team and he would have five seasons where he had hit the 30 Save mark. The three-time All-Star would have his best season in 1993 where he would lead the American League in Saves (45) and would win the Rolaids Relief Award. That year he would finish thirteenth in MVP voting.
The Royals chose Montgomery for their Hall of Fame in 2003.
