McRae would six times exceed the .300 mark, the highest being .332 where he finished second in the American League. That season (1976), McRae would lead the AL in On Base Percentage and OPS and would finish fourth in MVP voting. A three time All Star, McRae would again finish fourth in MVP voting in 1982. That year he would win the RBI Title (133) and win his first and only Silver Slugger. McRae was also named the Designated Hitter of the Year (Renamed the Edgar Martinez Award) three times.
McRae was chosen for the Royals for their Hall of Fame in 1989.
