Entering his seventh year in Baseball (all with Colorado), Trevor Story is as of this writing one of the elite players for the Rockies.

The Shortstop was drafted in 2011, and worked his way up the system, but as long as Troy Tulowitzki was in Denver, Story was going to gain experience in the minors, but he was being groomed as the Shortstop of the future.  The future came in 2016, after Tulowitzki was traded and Story won the starting job at Short.  Story did ok in his first two seasons, but in 2018, he would have his breakout campaign.

This was the year where he went to his first All-Star Game, won a Silver Slugger, and smacked 37 Home Runs with 108 RBIs.  His Batting Average also climbed to .291.  Story finished 8th in MVP voting in 2018, and was 15th in 2019, where he repeated his All-Star and Silver Slugger selections, and again batted over .290.  His 35 Home Runs brought him to well over 100 in his young career.  He would also lead the NL in Stolen Bases (15) and Triples (4) in 2020.  Story had another solid season in 2021 with 24 Home Runs and an OPS of .801.  Notably, Story has also finished in the top ten in Defensive bWAR five times.

If there is a valid criticism of Story, it is that he strikes out far too often.  He has swatted at nothing well more than one per game, a far too often number, but common in this era.

The end for Story in Colorado came after he joined Boston before the 2022 Season.  He left the Rockies with 158 Home Runs, 450 RBIs and an .863 OPS.
