After two forgettable seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Tim Wakefield will always be remembered for his knuckleball and 17 seasons as a member of the Boston Red Sox.

Wakefield was released by the Pirates in 1995 and was signed as a Free Agent by the Red Sox days later.  Over the next 17 years, Wakefield was never someone who could dominate, but like many knuckleballers, he would have longevity and was able to find a home in the starting rotation for years.  A member of two World Series Championship teams (2004 & 2007), Wakefield had four 15 Win Seasons, and was an All-Star in 2009.

Overall with Boston, Wakefield went 186-168 with 2,046 Strikeouts.  As of this writing, he is still the franchise leader in Innings Pitched with 3,006.

The Red Sox elected Wakefield into their Hall of Fame in 2016.
