The Outfielder split his career with the New York Mets and the Philadelphia Phillies, where he helped his first team win the 1986 World Series. Dykstra was dealt to the Phillies during the 1989 season, and he would go to three All-Star Games there and led the National League twice in Hits. Dykstra was the runner-up for the NL MVP in 1993, which was one of his league-leading Hit seasons, and he was also at the tip of the leaderboard in Runs (143) and Walks (129). The Phillies won the Pennant that year, and that doesn't happen without Dykstra.
Throughout his time in baseball, Dykstra proved to be an exemplary leadoff hitter, as he knew how to get on base, and once there, he knew what to do. Dykstra had seven 25 SB seasons and 285 in total.
Following his career, Dykstra had numerous legal problems, financial issues, and feud with ex-teammates, which have sadly overshadowed his on-field accomplishments.
