WWE Hall of Fame: The Celebrity Wing

Doesn’t it always seem that Professional Wrestling seeks the approval from the mainstream media?  For years, the pseudo sport has always used celebrities from other sports and forms of entertainment.  Some have been successful, some not so much, but the goal of every “stunt casting” was always to broaden their appeal and attract a new audience.  The WWE Hall of Fame created a celebrity wing to honor such individuals; again with the hope of attracting attention.  Currently, the “wing” only houses Baseball legend Pete Rose, and one year phenom, William “The Refrigerator” Perry.  We at NIHOF aren’t exactly thrilled with idea of a celebrity wing, but since it exists, we feel that we have come up with a list of five potential inductees for the celebrity wing of the WWE Hall of Fame.
The cornerman of Jake “The Snake” Roberts at Wrestlemania III, Alice Cooper did not impress anyone with his physique but did assist Roberts in putting his snake Damian on Jimmy Hart, the notorious manager of the Honky Tonk Man.  Cooper never did any other work…
Seth Green was a former guest host on Monday Night RAW where he actually competed in a match with D-Generation X (Shawn Michaels & Triple H) as his partners.  Green’s performance aside, he has made his mark in animation with Robot Chicken and produces Camp…
Jerry Springer has made a few appearances on WWE Television and didn’t it seem like a natural fit?  We thought so, and the WWE Network did too as they hired him to host the “Too Hot for Television” specials.  Frankly, we don’t think we have…
Chuck Norris made only one WWE appearance (excluding an interview at Wretlemania VII) where he served as the “Special Enforcer” for the Undertaker VS Yokozuna casket match at the 1994 Survivor Series.  The then star of “Walker, Texas Ranger” delivered a karate kick to Jeff…
We still wonder if this was a lost opportunity.  Hot off of the heels of his Oscar winning performance as Randy “The Ram” Robinson in “The Wrestler”, Mickey Rourke appeared at Wrestlemania 25 where he was interjected into the Chris Jericho VS the legends (Jimmy…
Snooki has a Wrestlemania match, which we are sure angers thousands of wrestler worldwide.  Still, the former Jersey Shore personality performed well in her six person intergender match at Wrestlemania (with Trish Stratus & John Morrison VS Layla, Michelle McCool and Dolph Ziggler) and did…
Appearing at two Wrestlemanias  (17 & 19), Fred Durst and his love them or hate them band, Limp Bizkit also performed one of the theme songs for The Undertaker.  Musiciains have generally not been sought out for the WWE Celebrity Wing, but few have appeared…
There is a lot you can say about the ex-husband of Britney Spears, but Kevin Federline performed his role as associates of WWE Diva Melina and John Morrison and actually has a winning record over John Cena.  Wait, is that good?  Wait (again), don’t you…
