gold star for USAHOF

Diamond Dallas Page

Diamond Dallas Page

When Diamond Dallas Page announced in 1991 that he was going to give up managing to become a wrestler few gave him a chance.  As a manager, he was average at best, but the fact was at the age of thirty five he was entering a profession that was generally started by people ten to fifteen years younger.

The first year of Page’s wrestling work was average, and after tearing his rotator cuff nobody would have blamed him if he packed it in.  DDP continued to persevere and he was back in 1994, but this time he was much better.  His wrestling was more crisp, his offensive repertoire increased and by using his real life wife (The Diamond Doll) as his valet he was gaining notice in the industry as a very good in ring talent.  Page would continue to his slow climb to the top and he became a top star when he feuded with the New World Order.  When Page finally won the WCW World Heavyweight Title at the age of forty three people didn’t say that he was too old to be champion or that he got it because he was Eric Bischoff’s friend.  Diamond Dallas Page became the World Heavyweight Champion because he earned it.
