158. Masa Chono
Finally wrestling a reduced schedule, unlike many of the stars of the 1990’s from New Japan had more than just an appearance or two in the United States.  The Japanese star wrestled frequently for WCW and was even the NWA World Heavyweight Champion while the legendary promotion was endorsed by WCW.

Like many, Chono started out as a technically gifted babyface wrestler whose mat skills helped him obtain championships and respect.  Of course, many find it more fun to work the crowd, and Masa Chono was a natural rebel.  He would find himself leading multiple heel factions in New Japan (among them NWO Japan) and played it to so well it was easy to forget his ascension to the top of the Japanese card as a good guy.  As he does have American exposure his Hall of Fame credentials are stronger then some of his peers, but again this happened in a WCW ring and nor a WWE one.
