31. Rick Martel

It’s hard to believe that as talented as Rick Martel was, he was always a little underrated.  It didn’t matter which promotion he was in, or where he was on the card; the odds was always that Martel would be in the best match of the night or at least close to it.

It could have been because Rick Martel made everything look so effortless could be the reason his name isn’t always spoken among the all time greats.  With an AWA World Title and a great WWF run, Rick Martel has a solid legacy with the executives in Stamford.  With Pat Patterson and Mad Dog Vachon in the Hall already, Martel would make a good addition as the third French Canadian in.

I think Rick should stop being a DEADBEAT to his daughter LEIA! He has turned his back on his own blood. I do not find any good character as a man, or as a Father to behave this way. Excuse me, Sir: You have a daughter that you certainly neglected in this lifetime, ignored, and turned your back on. That is WRONG! God is watching!

I vote you for the HALL OF SHAME until you do right by your own flesh and blood!

Rick Martel was probably one of the best technical wrestlers of the 80s and 90s and is very underrated. Look at some of his matches with Bret Hart, Brutus Beefcake, Tito Santana, and even Razor Ramon, and you'll see it's true his matches were usually the best on the card. If he'd come around 10 years later, he could have easily had an amazing main event career against people like Kurt Angle, Eddie Guerrero, Shawn Michaels, and so on.
Unfortunately he was a little ahead of his time and will never be a WWE Main Eventer, but he should still be honoured as one of the greatest of all time in the WWE HOF.
