178. Snoop Dogg

There have been many who have fans and critics who have felt that Rancid was the second coming of the Clash.  That is high praise and big shoes to fill but it is easy to see how there were parallels between the two bands.

Rancid was a high energy Punk band from California but like the Clash they drew from other musical influences to polish their sound.  Ska was a big part of many of their songs and they were among the industry leaders of the Third Wave Ska Revival yet still appealed to the more traditional Alternative set.

Whether or not they get inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Punk Rock owes a lot to Rancid.
