Smashing Pumpkins

Easily one of the most important Alternative bands of the 1990’s, the Smashing Pumpkins were able to become Alternative stars without sounding like the Grunge stars around them.  The Pumpkins could master varying emotions effortlessly easily delivering songs with unparalleled sorrow to tunes of blistering rage.  They delivered these skills to the video medium, and their overall videos of the 90’s are on par with any other band that could be named.  Billy Corgan and company may not get in on the first year of eligibility, but they shouldn’t have to wait long.

No doubt. Maybe the best band of the 90's. Nirvana had more impact but Billy corgan and his mates were better. And did any band ever sound more original? never heard anything like them before or since.

In the long and illustrious (often tortured) history of the Boston Red Sox a case can be made that of all the men who graced Fenway’s mound Luis Tiant was the most popular of them all.  Considering the amount of great athletes who have donned the Red Sox uniform this is an impressive accolade indeed.
