A+ A A-

In looking back, Warrant could have been the last star band made in the Hair Metal genre.  Warrant was exactly what Hair Metal was all about: Sex, partying and not so clean fun.  Throw in the staple Power Ballads and Warrant had significant chart success in 1989 and 1990.  Like others of their kind, they were seemingly wiped off the face of the earth in the 90’s, but their music has become a guilty pleasure and many a late thirty something can be seen in their mid life crisis car cranking up “Cherry Pie”.  Does that make them Hall worthy though?  Only if Def Leppard and Poison get in first.

I agree with the hierarchy: Warrant isn't as good as Poison, and Poison isn't as good as Def Leppard, which I think has a legitimate case for the Hall. (And this is from someone who used to hate Def Leppard.)Maybe we're splitting our pop-metal hairs here, but to make the too-obvious crack, Warrant doesn't warrant the Hall. Maybe the girl from the "Cherry Pie" video should be featured in a Hall "Video Vixen" exhibit, next to poster girl Tawny Kitaen.

  • The Doors
The Doors were the dark poets of a turbulent era. With a trippy Blues and Jazz infused Psychedelic Rock, they sounded like no other band around them, and are as big today as they were at their height in the late 60’s.
