Manic Street Preachers

They may have been virtually unknown in America, but the Manic Street Preachers certainly set English music ablaze in the 90’s.  Going against the Shoegazing and Acid House movements, the Manics were determined to put the rebelliousness back in Rock and Roll.  They pushed an anarchistic Rock agenda and though they were a band that achieved notoriety though not necessarily chart success.  Though they are widely known throughout England, they have virtually no shot to find any such acclaim in Cleveland.

When I was a DJ in college their track "If You Tolerate This, Then Your Children Will Be Next" was a favorite of mine. Their pro-Castro political activity and their obscure status in the United States make them a difficult sell for the HOF when so many more worthy bands remain ignored, though.
