Son of a Preacher Man alone would be enough to get her in. And I am not talking just having the balls to sing of this kind of subject in the 60's. her voice is so dead on perfect. The raspiness. The longing. The desire. This woman could sing anything. and she did. If she wanted to be Petula Clark she could have been. But she wanted to be unique and make a statement and sing about somethinga little deeper than love songs. And that still worked. Most of the new wave of female artists that have blown up recently from Amy Winehouse to Duffy owe a big thank you to the woman who defined the style of music that now dominates the radio. And she did it 40 years ago. That's what I call impact.
